Where do olive trees come from and how many varieties of olives are there?
In Spain alone there are more than 200 different varieties of olives, each with its own unique flavors and aromas. Although it is not known for sure, it is believed that olive trees have been with us in the Iberian Peninsula since 1500-2000 BC.
We have an olive legacy rooted in our roots for a long time. And although the mechanization of its cultivation is now the order of the day, there are still small natural refuges such as the olive grove of José Antonio where the olive tree coexists with the environment and is a vital part of its biodiversity.
